A 4,160-volt service in the middle of Hollywood
SBE delivered the complete electrical and low-voltage scope for 5420 Sunset, a 735-unit luxury residential and retail development at Sunset Boulevard and Western Avenue. The building is fed at 4,160 volts from a dedicated LADWP utility substation, distributed through roughly six miles of medium voltage cable and a single main electric room.
Built for electric vehicles from day one
The garage carries full EV infrastructure — 130 Tesla chargers plus six Tesla V4 Superchargers, backed by five megawatts of charging capacity. A 1,250 kVA CAT generator carries the building’s standby load.
$3 million engineered out of the budget
Working alongside general contractor Ace Malibu, SBE developed a value engineering solution that took $3 million out of the electrical budget without reducing scope, and held a 33-month construction schedule across 1,479,327 square feet.
